Housing

Dear Students from Bukit Panjang and Ma Wan,

These are questions on the housing in Singapore that you can discuss about.

1) Do you live in a private or public house? What is the percentage of people that live in public housing?
2) How much do you need to pay or rent your flat?
3) How big is the flat? What is the average size of a flat in Singapore?
4) What the races of your neighbours?
5) What the facilities or services are there in your building? (e.g. security guards, air-conditioner in the lobby)

Have fun discussing these questions above!

Love,
Faith

  1. 1)I live in a HDB flat, which may be the public houses that you had mentioned. The percentage of people in Singapore based on the 2006 in formation, is 9 out of 10 percent.
2&3)Do go to this website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Housing_and_Development_Board to learn more.
4)The main races are Chinese(74.2%), Malay(13.6%), Tamil(6.2%), while the rest are other races such as Eurasions, Korean,Japanese, Africans, Italian, Spanish and many more.
    5) In Singapore, we rarely have any special facilities in HDBs but we do have quite a few in Condominiums. Such as: Swimming Pools, Gymnassium, Function Room, Sona, Air Conditioned Lobby, Garden, Tennis and Badminton Courts, Playground, Shops, Dance Studio(for some), BBQ pits etc.
